Ethnopolitics as a Subject of Anthrpological and Political Research (on the Example of Central Asia)

Andrzej Wierzbicki

Abstrakt

The article pertains to ethnopolitics in Central Asia illustrated with the example of two states, i.e.Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The author draws attention to the fact that anthropologists and political scientists are interested in two elements of ethnopolitics in the region: ethnopolitical organisms and processes. He emphasises that ethnopolitics in Central Asia is dominated by the nation-building process, stimulated by the formation of national statehood. In his analysis he applies the literature on the subject, as well as the findings of specialist studies conducted in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
