This article presents cultural approach known in ethno-psychology. According to this approach it’s possible to study all products of ethnie’s activities, not only songs, customs, folk tales, myths, idioms,
but also belles-lettres. Since for Gagauz people literacy and written language are rather recent phenomena, it’s even more important to conduct the research on Gagauz literature for the writers and poets are inspired by traditional culture, oral traditions, folklore, folk customs and rituals. The authors focus on various issues such as regional identity, history, ethnic background as well as traditional culture of Gagauz people. It seems like the key role in the Gagauz literature and poetry is played by local identity, Bugeac (Budjak) being a small homeland, part of Gagauz history and genesis. Some of these literary works are being included in school curriculum. This way pupils and students acquire the knowledge of their people’s culture and tradition. And that is the mobilization task of the belles-lettres.
