Abstract

The article investigates the demolition of selected Teutonic Order castles, differing in the construction of the walls: Potterberg (1283, wood-and-earth walls), Nieszawa and Toruń (Thorn) (15th c., brick walls) and Papowo Biskupie (Bischöflich Papau) (15th c., stone walls). It presents the circumstances of the demolition, trying to reconstruct the schedule and organization of the works on the basis of written sources and results of archaeological research.
