Copyright policy

The Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Editors of the journal “Kwartalnik Historii Kultury Materialnej” (“Quarterly of History of Material Culture”) ensure respecting the right to privacy and protection of the authors’ personal data (more in the Privacy Policy) and compliance with copyright.

Open Access Policy
The journal “Kwartalnik Historii Kultury Materialnej” (“Quarterly of History of Material Culture”) is made available under the terms of Open Access in accordance with the CC-BY version 4.0 International licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode.pl). This policy came into force in 2020. Articles published before 2020 are made available in accordance to the licences in force at the time.

PROCEDURES
- The author declares that the submitted text does not infringe the copyrights and rights of third parties.

- if an article has more than one author, the writers concur that the only contact with the Editors in the editorial process is through the corresponding author. The latter is responsible for communicating with other authors and informing them about the progress, corrections and final approval of the article.

- Authors declare that they are familiar with the Open Access policy and the text of the publishing agreement [form]. In particular (in the case of a co-authored paper), all the authors are obliged to agree in advance to the publication of their text under the CC-BY 4.0 licence.

- The Editors are obliged to keep confidential all information related to the submitted texts. In accordance with the reviewing principles, the so-called double-blind review process (author and reviewers do not know their identity) is applied - see Review procedure.

- After submitting the article, the author is sent a confirmation message that the text has been received.

- Within 6 weeks the Editors will make a decision on the article. The article is rejected, accepted or conditionally accepted, i.e. the Editors may suggest corrections that have to be made before the article may be re-submitted.

- The Editors send the text for review, and after the reviews are received, they are forwarded to the author.

- The author makes suggested revisions or replies to the comments of reviewers. It is mandatory to provide answers to all comments of the reviewers.

- Revisions and corrections are entered by the author only in the file sent by the Editors and in the ‘track changes’ mode.

- If the major revision of the article was necessary, it is sent again to reviewers. Only after their acceptance, it is edited and forwarded to the author. The author is required to address any editorial comment, especially if they do not accept them. The author applies any corrections only in the file sent by the Editors and in the ‘track changes’ mode. The Editors reserve the right to shorten and edit the texts as well as to reject the article, even if it received positive reviews, e.g. because of a disagreement with the author regarding editorial corrections.

- After accepting the amendments, the author submits the file and the signed publishing agreement to the Institute.

- After the editorial preparation, the article is sent for typesetting. The typeset article is sent to the author for approval (in a pdf file). Only minor corrections are possible in this stage of the editing process. If the corrections are not returned within 2 weeks, the Editors consider this version as accepted by the author.

- Submitting an article to the journal "Kwartalnik Historii Kultury Materialnej” (“Quarterly of History of Material Culture”) is an indication of the author's prior acceptance of the adopted Procedure and the Publisher's publishing policy.
