Abstract

In this paper we present the outcomes of the archaeological research of the Second World War military grave in the western Poland, Lubuskie province. In the following parts the article we argue that the archaeology of the contemporary past may contribute to negotiating and rewriting local memories, as well as to unveiling microhistories of the global conflicts. Taking into account a story of one soldier, an actor and a victim of the Second World War, whose remains were found in the military grave in the Bieniów village, we intend to present how archaeology works on oral histories and how it fills history with additional, lacking details.
