Abstract

Global changes in environmental conditions affect not only everyday life, but also the practice of intangible cultural heritage. Along with temperature, the annual snow cycle, the length of the growing season and water balance, practices undertaken within the social system are changing, generating new challenges that require adaptation strategies. In this context, what is the role of ritual and order established by tradition? An in-depth reflection on human relations with the environment, especially meteorological conditions, is presupposed, among others, by ethnoclimatology and climate ethnography, which are part of the sub-discipline of weather anthropology. The purpose of this article is to compile folk weather proverbs, anthropologically analyze the results of their accuracy, embed them in the ethnoclimatological stream and reflect on their contemporary function.
