Abstract

The beginning of 20th century could have been a breakthrough in the history of Polish architecture, since women were allowed to study architecture at universities for the first time. Alas, the realities of the profession showed that it was exceptionally difficult for women to become seen in this male environment with patriarchal tradition. Even though some women architects’ designs were implemented, women were excluded from business and conceptual talks, they were not receiving awards and their designs were even attributed to male architects. Exclusivity of the architectural profession is not only a historical issue, because it is visible even nowadays and it is a problem not only in Poland; it is a global issue.
