A street carnival or people’s court? Ludic elements of contemporary city protests

Abstract

The article shows the differences between two types of contemporary street demonstrations, starting from their formal differences. Carnival-type protests, as much as the charivari-type ones, are set in different ideological backgrounds and have their own development stories. The article describes the characteristics and genesis of these phenomena.
