Artykuł dotyczy usieciowienia gdańskiego botanika Jacoba Breyne’a oraz naturaliów, przede wszystkim roślin żywych i zasuszonych, a także ich reprezentacji narracyjnych i wizualnych (tj. opisów oraz przedstawiających je ilustracji), które przesyłano z i do Gdańska w drugiej połowie XVII w. Na podstawie analizy literatury przedmiotu, źródeł narracyjnych, ikonograficznych i materialnych (exsiccatae) przybliżono sieci wymiany, w których partycypował autor Centurii, oraz zaprezentowano — w Aneksie — kolekcję Breyne’owskich exsiccatae z zielników Petiveriańskich z Herbarium Sloane’a wchodzącego w skład zbiorów Muzeum Historii Naturalnej w Londynie.
