Abstract

This article presents the main residences of King Stanisław Leszczyński during his first reign (1704–1709). During his journeys across the country and abroad the king resided, among others, in castles (e.g. Mildenstein in Leisnig (near Leipzig), Albrechtsburg in Meissen, the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the Lower Castle in Lwów, the former Teutonic Knights’ castle in Malbork, and castles in Człuchów and Tykocin), in tenement houses (e.g. on Długi Targ (Long Market) in Gdańsk, the Market Square in Lwów), in palaces (e.g. in Wysocko, Rydzyna, Rawicz; in convents (e.g. in Lida (Lyda) and Wasiliszki (Vasilishki)), in manor houses belonging to the nobility (e.g. in Zawidz, Dzięcioły, Sobalowice, and Piekoszów) as well as in the vicarage in Gieranony (Hieraniony) or in the inn in Jaworowo. More than once the king stayed in tents while setting up camp in the field.
