Abstract

The time and circumstances of the build of the palace in Igołomia remain undetermined. This also applies to the individuals who should be associated with its origin. Linking the design of the residence with Chrystian Piotr Aigner constitutes an undocumented hypothesis, as does attributing the stuccowork to Fryderyk Bauman. The text points to
a source (Bauman’s autobiographical sketch) confirming the active role of this stuccoworker, who collaborated with Aigner, in creating the palace’s décor. It has also been made plausible that the initiator of the residence’s build was Zofia Wodzicka (the owner between 1787 and 1815), and that the main building works most likely took place between 1804 and 1815. Attention is drawn as well to the possibility of further source research, potentially in materials preserved in Italy, related to an unrealized
publication describing Aigner’s architectural works.
