The 69th issue of the journal is devoted to contemporary challenges in the field of socio-cultural anthropology, with particular emphasis on the relationship between crisis, environment, memory and local forms of heritage. The articles collected here offer a reflection on the ethical implications of anthropological research, the changing narratives of time, the relationships between people and the more-than-social world, and historical and contemporary practices of representing culture.
The thematic section entitled 'The Meanders of Local Heritage', edited by Anna Szymoszyn, constitutes a significant component of this volume. The texts collected in this section analyse the processes of constructing and reinterpreting local heritage in the context of memory, identity and the activities of local communities. The texts cover a range of subjects, including cultural borderlands and intangible heritage, as well as tensions between rurality and urbanity.
