Abstract

The article is devoted to the issue of radiocarbon dating of sites of the Gordineşti group representing the Tripolye Culture from the territories of northern Moldova and western Ukraine. Based on the latest radiocarbon datings and the statistical models built on their basis, it is to be suggested that the Gordineşti II-Stînca goală site may have functioned earlier than the western Ukrainian settlements displaying Gordineşti group characteristics (e.g. Volhynian Holyshiv). In turn, the results for the Vynnyky-Zhupan site match the dating of Gordineşti II-Stînca goală. A refining of the chronology of the Moldovan Gordineşti group is important also from the perspective of the younger phases of Funnel Beaker Culture sites in the region of the Bug river.
