Abstract

The paper concerns the phenomenon of “clandestine post office” which was an important, albeit sporadically present in scientific literature, part of the independent publishing movement operating in the last years of the Polish People‘s Republic. So far, research on independent philately has most often been limited to publishing catalogues of items found mainly in private collections. In recent years, however, there has been a noticeably greater interest in this topic, as evidenced by the Book of the underground post office of the Fighting Solidarity Organization published in 2023, as well as other publications covering, among others, iconographic and iconological purposes, as well as organizational and structural issues.
