Abstract

The hoard from Paszowice, discovered in 2015, contains objects in various stages of production, as well as casting remains. A SEM-EDS chemical composition analysis determined the casting alloy used. Metallurgical production methods were identified based on an analysis of manufacturing traces. In turn, macro- and microscopic observations indicated that some items showed no signs of use-wear, having been deposited in as-cast condition. Traces of metal solidification were identified in these cases, reflecting the structure of the casting mould. Unused blade shapes and casting defects were also documented.
