A survey of archaeological sources for studying modern-period pottery in Mazovia

Aleksandra Lis

Abstract

The article surveys the currently available archaeological sources for researching modern-period pottery in Mazovia. Few purely modern-period sites have been discovered so far and even fewer clay artefacts found in them have been subject to extensive study. The article lists finds of pottery in Mazovia dated from the mid-16th to the 19th c., including those described in published materials and in typescripts available in the archives of the Mazovia Heritage Conservation Office. The information covers the following categories: the type of the archaeological site, the character of research that was conducted, the mode of presenting results, the dating and classifi cation of the revealed pottery artefacts.
