Abstract

The town of Wolin was chartered in the 1250s or 1260s. The new town was founded on the site of an older, early medieval settlement that exhibited early urban characteristics. Based on the available written records and the results of excavations, the article presents spatial changes taking place in connection with the organization of the new urban centre, its topography, and building structures.
