Abstract

The article is based on fifteenth-century records from the lay court of the village of Futoma in the Sanok region. It discusses the nature of these records and the skills of
the scribes who created them. Next, the activities of the court and the types of cases it adjudicated are analysed. The research focuses on the clientele of this institution, which
primarily consisted of local peasants and newcomers from villages located within a maximum distance of 50 km from Futoma. Data on the wealth structure of the village residents is presented, and an attempt is made to estimate the capital they possessed.
