Journal's sections

A text submitted to the Archeologia Polski may be published in one of six sections. They differ depending on the content, volume, and types and quantity of display items. The details are as follows.

OCCASIONAL ARTICLES
Various occasional, celebratory or anniversary studies, in honour of distinguished archaeologists, exploring their lives, work achievements and contribution to the field. Bibliography of works may constitute a part of such paper.
Text: up to approx. 8 pages (standard manuscript format, including footnotes), ie., 14 500 characters with spaces; bibliography/references not included in the limit.
Display items: tables (max. 3), figures (max. 5).

METHODS AND METHODOLOGY
Papers exploring the epistemological value of methods of various scientific disciplines, among others: archaeometry, zooarchaeology, dendrology, geophysics, geology and palynology, in the study of archaeological material, in research conducted both in Poland and worldwide. Texts presenting current research and achievements in the field with the description and evaluation of application of these methods in archaeology.

STUDIES
The principal section of the journal, consisting of substantial research articles; predominantly syntheses and broad explorations of various topics concerning archaeology from the Stone Age to the modern period in the Polish lands, discussed in connection to the wider European background. Archaeological material is presented and analysed; and general conclusions are offered. For interpretation of the material, using specialist analyses (eg., physicochemical, biological etc.) is strongly advised.

DISCUSSIONS AND DEBATES
Papers inciting or pertaining to scientific debates on various, current discoveries, interpretations, methodological approaches and methodologies in archaeology. Voices in discussions on recent issues of both Polish and global archaeological discourse as well as replies to published reviews.

REVIEWS
Critical pieces on new Polish and foreign publications concerning variety of archaeological problems, research, evidence and material sources.
Text: up to approx. 10 pages (standard manuscript format, including footnotes), ie., 18 000 characters with spaces; bibliography/references not included in the limit.
Display items: in case of book reviews – 1 figure showing the book’s cover (JPG or TIFF file).

CHRONICLE
Reports and information on various scientific and academic events (home and abroad) – conferences, workshops, sessions, meeting etc.; activity of academic societies and organizations. In the section there are also obituaries and commemorative articles about distinguished academics and persons associated with the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology PAS.
