Referaty wygłoszone na sympozjum zorganizowanym w dniu 22 maja 2015 r. w Instytucie Archeologii i Etnologii Polskiej Akademii Nauk w Warszawie oraz dyskusja nad nimi ukazują duże znaczenie szlaków: jedwabnego, dnieprzańskiego, wołżańskiego i transkontynentalnego dla rozwoju szklarstwa i wymiany wyrobów szklanych w środkowej i wschodniej Europie we wczesnym średniowieczu. Na sympozjum można było tylko zasygnalizować tę problematykę i zwrócić uwagę na potrzebę podjęcia nad nią badań.
